less stress...more stress?

So it's been like 2 weeks since I have posted. Sorry.

In March, my grandpa was in the hospital, in the nursing home, in the hospital, and is now back in the nursing home, mostly likely to not leave again. It's been rough on all of us, watching him go down hill so quickly after being "not old" for 95 1/2 years. At 97 and 3 months, his body is falling apart. He's been dehydrated and had kidney failure. His vascular system is compromised. He has necrotic tissue on his feet. Left untreated, this could turn into gangrene. He hasn't had a decent meal in a month now. He has problems swallowing. Mom is most affected by all of this, but Dad & I are as well as we have to "be strong" for her.

On March 27th, my sister had a baby girl. Her name (the new baby's) is Annabelle. When she first was talking about the name, I wasn't exactly sure I liked it. However, it has grown on me and she's so totally cute!!!

So in between all of this, we were training a lot of people at work for the new store that opened. Hooray for the new store! It was nice that the store opened and that they all left, but we're a bit concerned for the customers at the new store as we aren't quite sure they know what they are doing.....

All together, this has added up to quite a bit of stress for me. For about a week, I really did not like me and was wondering if that was what depression was like. I just wanted to disappear and not see anyone or communicate with anyone. (Yes, I know that's silly!) But totally how I was feeling. But spring seems to have returned and I'm feeling better.

I'm back to the school debate in my brain. I think I've narrowed it down to things I would enjoy doing in the long run. The short list includes professional writing and graphic design. It's just the question of where? I'm searching upstate NY for someplace I can commute to because I don't have the means to move right now. The school thing keeps my brain in a whirl!

OOO... I almost forgot. I had a date with James again last night. This time, I bought because I missed his birthday. We went to this bar & grille near his place and I can't remember the name of it. Blue something. The decor was neon meets Warhol meets Morraco. Lots of pop art and mirrors and beads. Interesting combination. The menu was intersting as well. It seemed like the chef/owner/whoever couldn't make up their mind about a cuisine, so decided to sample them all. Everything we had was very tasty!

For starters, James had chili and I had a house salad. The chili was good and had an afterbite. It was served with shredded cheese and sour cream. Yum - that's the way I like my chili! My salad was decent-sized and made of mixed greens, carrots, red onion, croutons, sunflower seeds, and craisins. The vinegarette was a little sweeter than I would have liked, but the combination was nice. James was drinking an appletini - the only thing he ever drinks! and I had their signature pomegranate mojito. Mmmm...

For dinner, James had the penne with a chive sauce, button mushrooms, asparagus, and 3 cheeses. It was served with pita points. It was good, but I thought it could have used a bit more sauce. He said he didn't like mushrooms, but those were good. I had the fish and chips. The catch of the day was tilapia and the 3 strips were breaded and I couldn't figure out what the flavour was, but it was excellent. The tartar sauce was on the sweet side, but went well with the fish. The crinkle-cut steak fries were out of this world! Seasoned with coarse salt, they were fried to very crisp and served piping hot. Mmmm...

Then, because we are like twins and really not dating, we went shopping at Target. He needed some stuff and got mad because I didn't buy anything. I didn't need anything...I did my Target shopping on Monday. We got done shopping and walked out into SNOW. On April 5th. But it didn't stick on the roads, so it was okay for driving. James has his iPod in his car so we listened to lots of 80s and electronica and dance while we were driving around. I offered to drive since I was taking him out for his birthday, but he said he wanted to drive and he has "butt warmers" and it was a little chilly out, so who am I to complain?! :)

Ok, so I am like totally addicted to MySpace. I mainly use it for reconnecting with old friends and discovering new music. Yesterday, I had emails from 3 different guys who liked my profile. The one was in Houston and "willing to move anywhere" to be with the right woman. The other 2 were local hockey people. Guess which one didn't get a reply message?! The first local, liked my song, so I wrote him back. The other local is 34 and looking for a girl to hang out with. Turns out, he sits near me at hockey games. We chatted for an hour tonight and said we'd look for each other tomorrow night. We'll see what happens.

And since I'm on boys.... In mid-February, R had showed up to a game with a girl with a kid. Last Saturday, he appeared in my section and I was like "what are you doing over here?" Turns out, he was coming to talk to his kid's mother. The kid is like 2 max. So he's got a 13 year old who lives with him (didn't ask about that one's mother!) and this 2 year old who lives with it's mother. I'm so not getting involved with this guy. Turns out, the girl was sitting a couple rows ahead of me, so I got to see her for most of the game. Lucky me. NOT! I really shouldn't go to games by myself.

Sorry for the long read. I don't think I covered all the details, but this should give you a bit of feeling for my recent life. And on that note, I'm out! :)
