so much to say
So this is about 2 weeks overdue and I have a ton of stuff to say. However... My mood is calm so I'm not sure how this will turn out.
Update on the guy friend. 2 weeks ago, he came in to see me at the mall store and wanted to know when I was going to take him to a hockey game. I wanted to know if dinner was included and would it be a "real" date? He made some lewd comment and the situation was wierd. Then Thanksgiving and I haven't talked to him since. Until today. I think I mentioned that he's attractive? Well, he's also a flirt and I respond to that and flirt back. And hate myself for doing that! He said he might come see me tonight. We'll see. There are supposed to be hockey players in the store signing autographs tonight. (ACK! What to wear?!) lol
Thanksgiving was quiet. I worked 7 - 3:30. Went home and went to bed, so no turkey with the family. Retail is HUGE on Black Friday in my little town, so the coffee shops must be open early as well. That said, it was ridiculous to open at 2 cuz no one showed up! Whatever. We got lots of other stuff done and I was done at 10. Had turkey leftovers for lunch with my family, then got on the road to a conference in NJ. Traffic was pretty light - I think they were all shopping! Got to the conference about 6 p.m. Met up with B. C had gone on a coffee run without me. And I really needed caffeine at that point! The whole conference was nice - the Bible studies and speakers were what I needed to hear. The social aspect was nice as well, tho certain older guys were a little wierd.... Then there was the very attractive not-that-much-younger-than-me guy who informed me that he was older than me. Hey! Who am I to argue with that?! :) The trip home Sunday afternoon/evening was a little stressful as the traffic was heavy the whole way home. But it was a nice weekend and I was glad I was able to make it!
That week, as in last week! was crazy busy. I kept thinking I was going to find something to wear to K & R's wedding on Friday night. I think I shopped every day that week. So what did I wear? A skirt from the "successful shopping trip" before Thanksgiving paired with a bunch of stuff I already had. I think I was the only person in a turtleneck there, but it was COLD that evening! The parking lot of the church was a sheet of ice - glad I didn't wear heels! Ran into a couple of friends before the ceremony, so I ended up sitting with them. The ceremony was really nice. The guys wore black tuxes with spats. The girls wore black cocktail dresses - all picked their own - and carried 3 (?) calla lillies. K had a really nice dress and it wasn't even strapless! I was impressed she found one.
The reception was 1/2 hour away from the church in the main ballroom at this Club. I sat in the balcony. At first we thought we were put up there as "punishment" ('tho we didn't know what for!), but as it turned out, the bridal party was sitting up there as well - FUN! The bridesmaids + K showed up wearing multi-colored feather boa's. K's mom even had one! After introductions, there was the toasts and the first dance. Then we ate. The food was YUMMY. For all the reassurance I got from R & K before the wedding, I was the only single girl there. Well, apparently there were others, but none up in the balcony. Whatever. I met 2 girls from K's sock club. We talked for the rest of the night. K & R "acted out" Paradise by the Dashboard Light and then everybody started dancing. I left just before the reception broke up around midnight. It was a fun night and it seemed like everyone was chatting with everyone else. And K was beautiful and R was handsome - a perfect couple! :)
Saturday night, I was home in the evening for the first time in about 3 months! Very odd. Apparently I couldn't handle it so went to bed early! lol This week hasn't been nearly as stressful - thankfully. Mall is open until 10 now, so I'm working later, but at least people are in the store now! Yesterday was my day off and I managed to put up new bookshelves in my room. I really need to get rid of a lot of stuff and stop buying books and cds...! What else? Oh, I randomly ordered a laptop from Dell 'cuz they had a sale price online that was $100 less than what their holiday catalog had listed. It came on Monday. I haven't figured it all out yet, but I'm sure that will come.
Well, it's off to the mall shortly. Guess I should think about getting ready for that. Especially with the possibility of hockey players in the store. ACK!
