my very long weekend (and I figured out how to post pictures!)
Saturday, I worked 8:45-4:45. And, of course, it was gorgeous out! After going home to change, I headed out to see Chris Rice. Show was at 7, doors were supposedly at 6. Well, I was there long before then, and the doors did not open at 6! Whatever. As you will remember, I had gotten the last 2 "artist's circle" tickets, knowing that they were general admission within that section. I'm in line stressing out because it looked like everybody around me had a.c. tickets. Finally the doors opened. I head for the front of the gym. As it happened, there were open seats in the second row, just off center stage. So of course I snagged them, then went in search of A because she had come from work and was running a bit late. She got some food and we settled in for the show. It was a really fun show.
The last time A & I saw Chris Rice, he had done an acoustic show. This time, he had a band. They were really good. In case you are wondering, he did not do the Cartoon Song. A lot of people were disappointed. He started the first set with a new song, then did about an hour of older tunes. After the intermission, he came out alone and played a few songs on the piano, including several new ones. Then the band joined him and they did a bunch of new songs. And then, far too soon, they were saying "good night" and the show was over. Found out after the show that Gary was working the back-stage sound stuff. So I hung out with him for a bit - even got to listen to his band's new demo. I also got to talk to Chris a little. He is so real! It was neat to chat with him.
Sunday was fellowship, so we were there all day. It was another gorgeous day, but I got to spend time outside with the kids. I took pictures so they all had to take pictures with my new camera. We were scheduled for a store meeting at 8 that evening. I showed up around 7:30 to hang out. The actual meeting lasted about 15 minutes, then we went to Sliderz. It's a bar & grill just up the street and our assistant manager is friends with the owners. He had them open up just for us and we had a going away party for Patrick. It was fun.
I left around 10:15 because I had to open in the morning, but apparently some people stayed much later... Opening on Monday means 5:30 AM and I worked until 1:30. Was at physical therapy by 2. They found a new sore spot, this time on my left side. I was home for about an hour to change (I do this often!) and pack up some things for my boring evening at the mall. Fortunately, the cute manager was working at the Gap even though he had told me last week that he was going to be off on Monday. We watched him work for a while to kill some time, but it was still a very long evening. Then I had to get groceries so I could go home and bake for today. I ended up making Pumpkin White Chocolate Macadamia squares. I finally got to bed around midnight and was back to open at 5:30 this morning. The squares were a big hit and there are very few left right now. I went straight from work to physical therapy and came home and crashed. The long weekend is over! Hooray!!!
